Geechee Ki'Chun

When we decided to turn teaching tolerance with events to food events by educating people with authentic food history of the Gullah/ Geechee Sea Island culture from the diaspora, the name Gumbo Machine was born. Gumbo Machine has been established in 2020 with the concept of Gullah Diaspora fusion linking the Corridor to the Americas to the Caribbean to the West and Central Africa and the places yet to be discovered in the World. The name Gumbo is a fusion dish: a fusion of ingredients. The menu is seasonal because the ingredients is seasonal. The Basic Pop Up Menu consist of Gumbo Soup of the day and accompanied with a local Sammie. Authentic Dinners are also provided.

The Gumbo Machine (mobile food cart) is part of the Geechee Ki’chun Catering a subsidiary of Taste of Gullah. The purpose is to bring the ecletic taste of authentic and modern gullah geechee and sea island cultural foods. It all started when I said ain’t nobody cooking nuttin out the real kitchen.
